"Kadupul"- The Mystic Plant

Today, it is going to be about "Kadupul".

I have a bushy "Kadupul" plant which hangs freely in our mango tree. We tied a small stem of a Kadupul plant with some coconut husks to our mango tree. This is 7 or 8 years back and it is still hanging there with out due care from us.

See how it is being hanging there.....................

Kadupul is a kind of a cactus plant, so that the stems can be planted with out  much effort. The flowers of this plant usually blooms at night. Around 8pm-9pm. So you won't be able to see blooming flowers in the morning. Here is one of the photos I took when I caught one of them..........

'Kadupul' plant doesn't need much sun light. So hang it in a shady place. Water them regularly so it will grow healthily. It doesn't need soil or fertilizer to grow. Some coconut husks can handle such needs. However some fertilizer will not spoil the plant as well.

Some consider 'Kadupul' as a kind of mystic flowers. It is considered as the legendary flower of the Celestial Nagas. And there is a belief that Nagas come down from their celestial abodes when these flowers bloom, so that they can offer 'Kadupul' to lord Budda. However, it is considered as a rare experience to see Kadupul bloom. So try to grow this mystic plant with out much effort and tranquilize your selves.............
