Grow Aalanga and Relieve Your Stress !!!!

Lets break the chain of roses and move into another interesting flower. Today when I returned home after a busy day, I came across this BIG flower, what we call it "Aalangaa". Lets say.......It is exactly the size of a saucer (from cup and saucer).

Have you seen an "Aalanga" before? If you haven't, have a look bellow....I took a photo of it.

I took this photo a little while ago....

Aalanga

Do you know that "Aalanga" plant can be grown by it's seeds. The seeds of an "Aalanga" plant is exactly equal to the size of a tooth. It looks like a tooth as well.....My father had got some seeds of "Aalanga" from an Aunt next door. I started planting them.

First of all I seated the seeds in a pot and kept it in a shady place. It grew sooner, poped up the leaves in couple of days and tried to climb up. But then what happened is.......it's leaves were eaten by pests. So I took the pot to a place where direct sun light peeps.

Usually the "Aalanga" blooms at the evening. Around 4' O clk and wither before morning. So in the morning you won't be able to see it.  The flower is of  gramophone shape.

Even it blooms at night, I feel it need lot of sun to give out a flower. Because when I was looking after "Alanga" in the shady place, it did not gave out flowers. So try to plant it in a shady place at the beginning and move to sun when it grows up...Try to grow some. You will be able to release your stress if you can see one. (Telling from my own experiences.....)

Growing Your Roses

I really like to watch growing roses. Not merely the roses but any other plant in this world!!! I like to feed them with care and see the flowers blooming..... Sometimes ago when I started growing roses, some way other my roses did not last for years. I had rose plants which did not bear roses for years. And I also had roses which lived for sometime and left me alone.
I thought that the rose plants which did not gave me roses might lack the required amount of water or fertilizer. So what I did was removing them from the big pots that I planted them and seated them on earth. But what happened was unbearable. They died after sometime.
I realized that I can not grow roses. But my love for roses did never fade away. One day when my boy friend returned from Nuwara-Eliya he brought me a set of rose plants. Two of them were big reds and one of them is a big pink. I was showered with joy when I received them and I again got a kick to grow roses. I referred a lot of online materials and merged my experience of growing roses and other plants . And I realized the terrific mistakes I did when growing my oldies. If I list them one by one for your benefit, then they are as bellow;
  • Did not control the amount of water they had
  • Did never under go any regular feeding (fertilizer) methods.
  • Did not consider about the optimum sun exposure.
  • Did not look in to the leaves to see whether they are growing any fungus.
I had a nice picture of an old rose plat which bore flowers for sometime and left me alone. This is also a one that I planted on earth after removing from a pot.!!!!

Red Rose

I will come up with more planting tips in my next blog !!!
